Alessandro Bertolani: Our First 30 Years

01/26/2026

Alessandro Bertolani - Founder & CEO
I come from a family of hoteliers.
In 1993, my family decided to expand what is still our family-run hotel by building new rooms.
So my father decided that we would handle the expansion ourselves.
Naturally, this wasn’t really part of my plans, because my path was completely different from construction, but that’s how it went: this need arose, and so starting in 1993 we began building these rooms.

During this construction period, I received several requests for small jobs, which we later carried out, and this sparked my curiosity about the world of construction—especially dry construction.
As a result, toward the end of 1995 I went to see a friend of mine, Gianmarco, in Vicenza—an experienced installer—who taught me some of the tricks of the trade.
In January 1996, on January 26th to be precise, we founded what is now our company, Bertolani Costruzioni, which therefore turns 30 years old today.

Worth remembering… and some things less so
In 30 years, many things have happened.

Worth remembering, without a doubt, the first Fiat Ducato—the one with the gear shift on the steering column; worth remembering a bit less the latest one, which unfortunately isn’t nearly as comfortable.
Worth remembering the first major project at Ferrari in Maranello, in the sports management division, with architect Sturchio; worth remembering a bit less the second one, also at Ferrari, with Fiat Engineering.
Worth remembering the collaboration and mutual support among workers on site; worth remembering a bit less the indifference.
Worth remembering the Consolidated Safety Act; worth remembering a bit less the Docoa, the Mocoa, the DURF, and that “masterpiece” known as the Congruity DURF.
Worth remembering Banca Popolare di Bergamo; worth remembering a bit less everything that came after.
Worth remembering the centrality of work; worth remembering a bit less everything that takes that centrality away—intermediaries, bureaucratic requirements, speculators.
Worth remembering the first Apple Store in Paris, in Saint-Germain; worth remembering a bit less the Milan Olympic Village.
Worth remembering the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Astana; worth remembering a bit less Astana in January.
Worth remembering Studio Lucid in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; worth remembering a bit less Saudi Arabia in July.
Worth remembering Andrea Bartoli and Luigi Masotto; worth remembering a bit less the fact that Andrea Bartoli and Luigi Masotto are no longer with us.

Finally, worth remembering the hard work—the sheer effort that every good job requires, and which is my personal measure for understanding how much value a piece of work truly has.

Our future is already here
Companies live on perspective, so it is right to remember the past, but it is essential that past experiences help us shape and guide the future.
In 2023, Bertolani Costruzioni acquired a company called KTV Working Drone Italy, a highly innovative company that uses professional work drones to deliver a range of services in complete safety.
So welcome experience—so that those experiences can be used to steer a future that is safe and productive.

Happy birthday!
So, happy birthday to us, and happy 30th anniversary.
